The health sector under the “4T”

In 2018, Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, with the eight governors of the southeast (Guerrero, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo), signed the National Health Plan in Mérida, Yucatán, which guarantees people without social security free access to medical services and medicines.

The plan was to be gradual and addresses the national urgency of providing basic services to the neediest.
